This book is a sensational, not an historical, account of the Klan. The author depends on secondary sources and presents assumptions as if they were facts. His conclusions about the nature of the Reconstruction Era Klan are not supported by the last forty years of scholarship. In short, this book is written by an amateur who has chosen a subject about which he has limited knowledge and on which he has done sloppy research.
