Cozy, fun stories.

I chose this rating because I enjoyed the light cozy mysteries. They make you want to curl up in a comfortable chair and keep reading. I would recommend these books to anyone wanting a light mystery, a little romance, all with small town humor and characters we have all known.

An Amazing Book with Unbelievable Tools to elict immediate & lasting change forever!!!

I have read numerous NLP based, self help books. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on digital self help programs, MP3's, paraliminals etc. I have even purchased Tony Robbins and Robert Anthony programs. I have done the age old, empowering VS dis-empowering belief exercise only to be the same afterward. For the first time, this book and Felix's 10 Step Process to communicate with the subconscious mind, shows exactly how to get the subconscious mind to co - operate with the conscious mind and bring about immediate change that lasts. Really and truly, I have never come across any self help guru or coach ever instruct on this process as way to bring about change.

Why tell somebody that the change needs to be done at a subconscious level and then never show them how exactly to do that? Well, Felix does that and how to...

If you have had limiting beliefs forever, and have suffered from phobias, addictions, fear etc. and have never been able to change in the past, give this book a try, you will be grateful that you did.

Great read, easy to assimilate, exercises are easy to perform and the results are astounding.

Good Stuff

This is exactly what I have been searching for in a Bible. I first started reading the Good News Bible, then the NIV, then the King James. The King James's power, beauty and rhythm has always had hold over me since I started reading it. Read the Sermon on the Mount for instance in the King James Bible is awesome compared to the NIV. The only thing with the King James version is that every now and then I would err in my reading(not good), or not understand a verse because of obsolete or words that now have a different meaning. This lead me to try the New King James version. I still ended up going back to the King James Version until now. I now have in my hands a great book with the old poetic language flows and it has been updated. 1 Thess for example when the Lord Jesus returns for His saints the word prevent is replaced with the word precede.
The word "conversation" 400 years ago had some different meanings to today. Anyway the die hards will say just get with it and learn these old terms which is good for them but not for me, I have at last, finally, after being a Christian for 16yrs, found a Bible version that I am comfortable with.
My only criticism is and I can find just about anything to be critical of is that I would have preferred the one type face, they have used three for various reasons. The have also written it in single column instead of the usual two. This took a little bit of getting used to but I think I actually prefer it in the single column style.
Anyway anyone who wanted to read the King James bible but put it in the too hard basket, I would recommend giving the 21st Century King James Bible a crack. I am thoroughly satisfied with it and it will continue to be my Bible of choice. So, so, so much better than the New King James version. Happy Reading!

First attempt at modernizing the KJV and did rather well. I like their second Bible better, the Third Millennium Bible. However, this is great to read and study. Nothing missing but some archaic wording and phrases.

If you only read the KJV, but are troubled by the out-of-date vocabulary, this may be for you. This is a very mimimal update compared to NKJV or even the 1967 Scofield. Only the very out-of-date words are replaced, nothing else is changed. In fact, it seems many borderline archaic words were left in. Must Read for Football Fans

We’ve read and reviewed dozens and dozens of books about the English Premier League. But Jim White’s Premier League: A History in 10 Matches is a bit different and consequently, better as a result.

White is a talented and renowned sportswriter and his quality shines through in this book. While choosing a certain number of matches to highlight is not a novel idea, White gives the approach a new spin. His ten choices are solid ones to say the least and he recalls each in superb detail.
It all starts with the beginning of the Premier League and finishes with the 2013/14 season. This is an updated version that has a lot more than a discussion of ten matches. Tables, stats, interesting facts and tidbits, and incredible photos are the icing on the cake so to speak. A great book gets even better with the update.

I guess the biggest takeaway from this great title is how much the Premier League has grown, transforming English football and the global game in the process. What started out as a way to save the game in England has literally changed everything related to the beautiful game. The EPL is known in every corner of the world thanks to massive broadcast deals and creative branding by teams and the league itself. The success of the EPL has caused other leagues to step up their game as well, giving La Liga and the Bundesliga greater worldwide appeal.

This book captures the best from the history of the Premier League and is a must read for absolutely any football fan.

Well written with wonderful inside information. I learned so much about the league I never knew but in an extremely entertaining way. It's one of those books that I just,wanted to keep going. Of course, for someone who isn't a football fan and particularly a Premier League fan it won't be as meaningful but even for those non fans it is a wonderful read.

Dave Ramsey Will Help You Become Financially Fit

I enjoy discussions about my finances about as much as I enjoy talking about my weight. I certainly need to work on both, but I'd prefer to avoid the topics if at all possible, thank you very much. Can I get an "amen"?
Dave Ramsey, radio talk show host, author and all-around financial guru, is no stranger to this ostrich routine. After his own bankruptcy he came to the conclusion that the key to financial (and physical) fitness isn't knowing all the tricks of the money trade; it's being honest with yourself. "If I can control the guy in the mirror, I can be skinny and rich," he says in his new book THE TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER.
In other words, you have to get your head out of the sand. Okay, I have to get my head out of the sand.
Leaving the skinny to other books, Ramsey is a prophet to those who want to be rich but would settle for being financially stable. It's clear that this is a large group, given the popularity of Ramsey's radio show and books. After reading THE TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER, I can see why they flock to him for advice.
Ramsey's principles are simple and straightforward. Pay cash. Pay off debts from smallest to largest. Create an emergency fund. He provides easy-to-understand answers to many seemingly complex questions about budgeting, retirement funds, saving for college education, and more.
Large pullout quotes scattered throughout the book offer bite-sized financial advice and factoids in Ramsey's typically direct manner:
"A new $28,000 car will lose about $17,000 of value in the first four years you own it. To get the same result, you could toss a $100 bill out the window once a week during your commute."
"Looking to spend $100 per month on life insurance? You could pay $7 a month toward term insurance and invest the remaining $93. But go with a cash-value policy if you'd rather have someone else earn interest on your investments."
"49% of Americans could cover less than one months' expenses if they lost their income."
"If your mortgage payment is $900 and the interest portion is $830, you will pay that year around $10,000 in interest. What a great tax deduction! Right? Otherwise, you'd pay $3,000 in taxes on that $10,000. But who in their right mind would chose to trade $10,000 for $3,000?"
All of this advice is helpful and eye opening, but what Ramsey really excels at is presenting inspirational tales of those who were once, but are no longer, in financial disarray. Their stories make up at least a third of the book, and the cumulative effect is that of a published pep rally designed to get people pumped up about saving money. And it works.
This is a must-read book for anyone whose looking for a little basic financial information and a whole lot of courage to finally put away the ostrich suit.

One of My Favorites

I have read dozens of finance books and this is one of the best. I would put it up there with Automatic Millionaire, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and Pirates of Financial Freedom. It isn't perfect though which I will talk about later.

Who is this book for? Everyone can benefit from it, but it is great for married couples and those in their late 20s, 30s, and early 40s. Young adults could benefit tremendously from it, but I'm worried it might not be exciting or fun enough to hold their attention. It's not really meant for retirees.

--- The Good ---

* He says financial freedom is 80% behavior and 20% knowledge which is so important, and he emphasizes this by pointing out there are a lot of broke finance professors.

* There are many real-life success stories of real people which shows his method works, and they also provide inspiration.

* He lays out his seven Baby Steps and makes them simple to understand. He points out that living right financially is not complicated. It may be difficult, but it's not complicated.

* I really liked the quote, "If you worked for a company called YOU Inc. and you managed money at YOU Inc. the way you manage your own money now, would you fire you?"

* The book includes helpful budget forms and worksheet in the back of the book.

* He isn't all gloom and doom. He wants you to have fun and even approves of buying a $30,000 watch, but only after you reach step seven and can afford it.

--- The Not-So-Good ---

* He doesn't go into a lot of detail on how to increase your income. Dave Ramsey is rich because he is a business owner who can make money from his radio show, books, seminars, programs, etc. It would have been great to get his advice on that, but he probably didn't want to overwhelm the reader with too many topics.

* I feel his previous bad experience with debt (he was over-leveraged with his real estate investments) has made him overly zealous on not having any debt. College loans can be very appropriate for some people, business loans can be great in the right situation, and his statement that you should put money toward paying down debt rather than getting the company 401(k) match seemed too extreme to me.

* The book wasn't super entertaining. I found a few parts to be a little dry and repetitive. While it certainly wasn't boring, I wish more money management books would be like the new personal finance adventure novel, but I guess that isn't this book's purpose. Still, there were a couple parts that made me chuckle and he did have some interesting stories.

* He stressed putting 100% of your investments in stock-related mutual funds. First, I feel ETFs are probably better than mutual funds because they are cheaper and won't underperform the market. Second, recommending a 100% stock portfolio to everyone regardless of age, financial goals, or risk tolerance seems risky to me. Plus you wouldn't experience the diversification benefit of owning non-correlated asset classes.

* He doesn't talk about the benefits of setting S.M.A.R.T. goals or having an accountability partner, which have been shown to greatly help people achieve all kinds of dreams.

Overall it is a very good book with a lot of good advice and inspirational case studies. You certainly won't regret reading it.

Putting responsibility where it belongs

Dave Ramsey is not interested in your excuses. His Total Money Makeover begins with planting the responsibility squarely on your own shoulders for rescuing yourself from the debt addiction most Americans carry. He doesn't ever try to make it sound easier than it is, but the book does outline in wonderful detail the steps to go from paycheck to paycheck worry over bills to saving and retiring without financial worries. As Ramsey puts it "If you'll live like no one else today, you can live like no one else tomorrow". The book is so compelling I read it in a day, something rare for me. You will go from building an emergency fund to paying your debts, increasing your emergency fund, paying for new acquisitions with cash, establishing savings, investing, building college funds and finally paying off your home and retirement. Dave Ramsey has truly thought of it all. As he points out, there are a whole lot of broke financial experts, he himself has been a self made millionaire twice. His words will work if you follow them.

Artifacts is awesome

I really enjoy this book one of Top Cow's best. Phenomenal story by Ron Marz and incredible art by industry legend and Image founder Whilce Portacio. Top Cow's supernatural and artifact based universe is a refreshing change from the super-hero filled ones of Marvel and DC.

Bad cropping on kindle...Makes a middling book worse.

The story is mildly entertaining and lives up to the reputation of a Top Cow book. Whilce Portacio's artwork is a mess and the over-reliance on double page spreads is difficult to follow reading on the screen. And if he were doing the art for the whole series I probably wouldn't continue.

But the real issue for this book is the bottom portion of it is cropped off. A lot of dialog balloons are lost and even in panel mode aren't visible, in-fact the blown up panels are usually worse.

Makes me yearn for the good ol' days of physical books. (Too bad I don't have any shelf space.)

An interesting mix of sci fi and supernatural. Top Cow is changing their universe with all of the artifact bearers. A must read for fans of Witchblade and The Darkness.

This book depicts a special night in the desert, when all the beasts danced and bowed before the Christ child. I love to read this story to my kids at Christmas. The pictures are the best.

Beautiful on many levels

The story is wonderful, it had to spring from the mind of Madeleine L'Engle. It is both solid in Faith, and magical, with creatures like dragons and unicorns. It gives a unique glimpse of Christ as a child, both innocent and powerful, dancing with the wild, dangerous creatures of the desert on a moonlit night. We gave out several copies at Christmas, and it was well-received by all.

What makes a great children's book? It's that combination of words and pictures, action and magic, that you find in this desert story. This is such a creative and surprising tale. It starts out scary - describing all the things in the dessert at night that prowl and sneak. And then all of those creatures come to a group of travelers, one by one, and dance with a little boy. I cannot recommend this book more highly. Each page is a new adventure with a new animal, and it's the perfect length to keep your child interested.
