Aimee Menoux pushes predictable buttons but in unpredictable ways. Deliciously perverse.

I'll repeat what I said for Aimee Menoux's other book, "Feminized by My Black Master": "Typical of it's genre but pushes all the right buttons and pushes hard. Delicious prurient fantasy, pretty much divorced from reality but that's just fine. A little uneven in places but there are so many good passages it really doesn't matter." Aimee's writing is down and dirty in an actually attractive way. Dripping with D/s and S & M. An even better read than her other book. Read the sample!

3 great male-dom forced fem stories

I liked these stories about as well as Aimee's other similar book. The section written from the Dom's point of view was a nice, unique, addition. I hope her next sissy gets a relationship with some one else than a pure Dom. A trans-attracted male, or a gang like in keiran kelly's series would be fun.

Hydraulic fracturing is introduced as the solution of choice, showing the idiosyncratic nature of natural gas wells compared to oil wells. Subsequent chapters address important peripheral issues whose successful or failed resolution may affect the well performance with equal or even more serious consequences than the fracture treatment itself. These issues include well completions and the extremely important well-to-reservoir (and fracture) connectivity. Moving onwards, two chapters address the materials for fracturing: fluids and proppants. Their appropriate selection is essential to the successful execution of any treatment. The execution itself is the subject of the following chapter, and practical issues are addressed therein. Then some modern applications are described. One chapter deals with fracturing horizontal wells, increasingly an important option among reservoir exploitation strategies. Not only new well architecture but also newer reservoir targets are opening up, and natural gas demand points towards unconventional sources, namely coalbed methane (CBM), shale gas and very low-permeability formations. Technology makes their exploitation possible, and this is the subject another chapter. Finally, two issues round out the book: How fracturing is employed in the full development of reservoirs; and how mature fields, a mainstay of the developed world such as the United States and Europe, can be revitalized through this process.

About the Author
Michael J. Economides is a professor at the Cullen College of Engineering, University of Houston, and the managing partner of a petroleum engineering and petroleum strategy consulting firm. His interests include petroleum production and petroleum management with a particular emphasis on natural gas, natural gas transportation, LNG, CNG and processing; advances in process design of very complex operations, and economics and geopolitics. He is also the editor-in-chief of the Energy Tribune. Previously he was the Samuel R. Noble Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University and served as chief scientist of the Global Petroleum Research Institute (GPRI). Prior to joining the faculty at Texas A&M University, Economides was director of the Institute of Drilling and Production at the Leoben Mining University in Austria. Before that, he worked in a variety of senior technical and managerial positions with a major petroleum services company. Publications include authoring or co-authoring 14 professional textbooks and books, including The Color Of Oil, and more than 200 journal papers and articles. Economides does a wide range of industrial consulting, including major retainers by national oil companies at the country level and by Fortune 500 companies. He has had professional activities in over 70 countries. Tony Martin is business development manager for international stimulation at BJ Services Company. Since graduating from Imperial College, London, with an honors degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in petroleum engineering, Martin has spent 17 years in the oil industry and has completed engineering assignments around the world. Martin's primary interest has been hydraulic fracturing and stimulation, and he has been involved in production enhancement projects in more than 25 countries. He teaches fracturing, acidizing and sand control both in-house and externally. A constant theme in this teaching is the need to de-mystify the world of hydraulic fracturing, in an attempt to make the process more accessible and less intimidating. He is the author or co-author of numerous SPE papers and has served on the technical committees for several SPE events. He is also the author of BJ Services Hydraulic Fracturing Manual.

Platinum-plated five star space opera Eden

When I first searched for Alastair Reynolds' books to read after read the Revelation Space series (Revelation Space, Redemption Ark and Absolution Gap) I mistakenly typed The Perfect instead of the above title. Little did I know that when I would finally pick up the book it would turn out to be just that - perfect. I've read many SF novels of Reynolds already as well as his British compatriots' works of Iain Banks, Neal Asher, Peter F. Hamilton and Ken MacLeod. A number of those, too, I gave 5-stars but I if had the choice now I would give the those other 5-star books (with the exception of The Algebraist) a mere 5 silver stars while adorning The Prefect with 5 platinum stars. It's just THAT good.

From page 1 until page 502 (in the British edition I picked up in December 2008) the plot is wonderfully viscous which manages to slide the reader through an easy 100+ pages in one sitting and leaves you with a sense of awe at the depth and detail Reynolds serves up. When you're deep in the book you tend to let some details drift off but Reynolds will always smack them in your face just when you begin to think that he had forgotten to backtrack to include everyone and everything in the preceding pages. That simple facet of the book kept my blood pumping, as did the shiny facets of life in the Glimmer Band high above the planet of Yellowstone (part of the Revelation Space series and a key part to the novel Chasm City).

Now come to the cast involved in this menagerie of space, technology, artificial intelligence, orbital abodes, data bandwidth, police protocol and creeping evil. Dreyfus seems to be a clean-cut prefect with a dark history but still seeks justice for crimes committed along with his human deputy Thalia and hyperpig deputy Sparver. The determination and formidable pride in service displayed by these prefects is quite something to be proud of, yourself, to be involved in. Opposing this good is the necessary evil coming from Aurora and her prefect mole Gaffney. Is what they want so evil in the end? Are the means employed to satisfy this ending justified? And the ultimate question is how Dan Sylveste and Lascaille (both of Revelation Space fame) and the Clockmaker all fit into this vast, viscous plot.

I can't add much to the excellent review by bluesfan with the exception that this is indeed a wonderful novel. I have been reading Alastair's books since the first revelation space novel came out some years ago and have read everything he has written. He has a gift to get the reader so emotionally involved in the novel that you start cursing outloud at the protagonist while reading the book, leading some in one's family to think they have gone daft.
I bought all of the revelation space series in hardback, and then bought them again in paperback. Along with Banks and Asher, Reynolds is writing some of the best space opera and science fiction that has ever been written.
The late Poet laureate of science fiction, the much beloved Arthur C. Clarke, has seemingly had his torch picked up by Alastair. Good going.Keep it coming.

About the Author

Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Bengal Engineering College (now Bengal Engineering and Science University), Shibpur, India, in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering systems, electrical specialty, from Colorado School of Mines, Golden, in 2007. He joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a national laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Golden, in 2007 where he is currently holds Senior Engineer position. His current research interests include development of advanced and modular power converters for renewable and distributed energy resources, development and testing of new smart grid modeling and hardware-in-loop validation techniques. His other specialty areas include power electronics and control for microgrid systems; inverter and hybrid vehicle grid integration testing; control and optimization (classical, neural network, fuzzy logic); variable frequency drives; and active filtering.  Dr. Chakraborty is currently serving in IEEE-IES technical committees on power electronics and renewable energy systems. He has worked as one of the guest editor for the IEEE transaction on industrial electronics, special section on renewable energy systems. He is the contributing author of two published software copyrights on power electronics algorithms. Eight other intellectual properties developed by him on PV inverter hardware and software are currently under NREL-DOE review for future patents and copyright applications.

 

Dr. Marcelo G.  Simões received a BS and MS from University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a Ph.D. from The University of Tennessee, USA, in 1985, 1990, and 1995, respectively, and his D. Sc. degree

(Livre-Docência) from the University of São Paulo in 1998.  He is Associate Professor with Colorado School of Mines, where he has been establishing research and education activities in the development of intelligent control for high-power-electronics applications in renewable- and distributed energy systems. He is currently the Chair for the IEEE IES Smartgrid Committee. He has been involved in activities related to the control and management of smartgrid applications since 2002 with his NSF CAREER award “Intelligent Based Performance Enhancement Control of Micropower Energy Systems.” He has co-authored the books Renewable Energy Systems: Design and Analysis with Induction Generators (CRC Press) and Integration of Alternative Sources of Energy (Wiley/IEEE Press).

Dr. William E. Kramer’s current research includes and the development of integrated systems and controls for smart grid and vehicle technologies including new control and visualization techniques for Man in the Loop Controls, advanced power electronics, controls, supervisory control systems. He  received his Masters and Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University with a focus on optimization, adaptive, digital control systems and numerical simulation methods for the integration of electrical and mechanical systems. In his current position at the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Bill is the principal engineer and technical advisor for energy systems integration Projects at DOE’s new Energy Systems Integration Facility. During his tenure as a Research Associate and PhD candidate at Colorado State University, he assisted in the management the DOE Energy Analysis and Development Center, developed electrical and control systems for a ground up solar car that competed in the first GM Sunrayce, he partnered with Motorola to for the development of a radio modem for remote control and data collection for vehicle applications and lead a team to design and retrofit a ford vehicle for competition at the Ford Hybrid Electric Vehicle Challenge Project.

This is my favorite series!

I've loved every book in this series. This book is Ryan's story. I'm glad he got his own. I kind of liked him better than I did Adam so I was really excited. The star however is his 4 year old niece, Bridget. This story will make you laugh and you do not need to have read the previous books to start here. You will definitely understand the story line better if you've read the others but because Ryan is the main character, it's not necessary. Hope you enjoy!

ooh la la Ryan Décarie stole my heart!!!

If you rip, sew, string and pull hearts together wishes and love with flow. Secret North by G.J Walker-Smith bounds the second chance at love and happiness together. Bente leads a whizz, bang and pop of power of enchanting the No. 1 Bachelor of New York city, restaurant extraordinaire Ryan Décarie.

Ryan captures hearts, like cupid shoots an arrow through them. In the ever-brilliant fourth book in the series, Ryan and Bente are reacquainted in a striking tale of fairies, magic and love found again. I loved how G.J brought such magic to the characters. The tales of her work bring heart and life to pages of work that could be seen as letter to word on a page. Bente and Ryan’s relationship is one of heart and proficient broadening within Secret North.

The shed of tears, the earnest of love and the soul searching proof that if you believe, magic can change and lure you into so much more than written language strikes to why I loved Secret North. Adam, Charli and Bridget Décarie are seen within the novel creating an all-round home run of emotions spiraling and appeasing after finishing reading Secret North.

The power to effect a reader, is one that G.J has ample efficiency in providing. I loved Ryan and Bente’s Secret North as it was milled to show character. The narrative displayed how a man and women can love each other through all faults, up and downs and leave with pure magic. I rated Secret North a 5- Lit Love because unlike other books, I took my time reading Secret North. Why? Reason being is because the profound notion of a true tale of love and magic asked me to pay attention. As a kid we believe in magic, as an adult the lines blur and reading Secret North, helped me find magic again. As a reader, we fall in love with characters and narrative, I fell straight back into the magic of the Décarie’s and La La Land. Loving it to pieces, I would definitely recommend reading.

Perfectly done!

I read this book overnight because I just couldn't put it down! GJ Walker is a master storyteller & I had forgotten the magic she weaves throughout her tales. I really enjoyed the first three books in the Wishes series & I felt this fourth book just took it up a notch. We get to see Charli & Adam through Ryan & Bente's eyes and all of them are a bit more grown up, with baby Bridget now a precocious 4 year old. I won't spoil the story, but it just felt like a seamless continuation from the earlier books, which I really enjoyed. There is also a teaser at the end from the next book which I am dying to read! There really wasn't anything I disliked. Even though I hadn't reread the earlier novels before picking up this one, I was instantly transported back to NY and the fast paced lives of the Décarie's. The characters all behaved in ways I totally believed, nothing seemed forced or contrived as in other books I have recently struggled through. No, this was a breath of fresh air & I thoroughly recommend it to all who will listen :)

About the Author
Simon LeVay, Ph.D. is a British-born neuroscientist turned science writer and teacher. He has served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, and has taught at Harvard, the University of California, and Stanford University, USA. LeVay has authored over 40 scientific studies; the best known of these is a 1991 report in Science that described a difference in brain structure between heterosexual and homosexual men. He is the author or coauthor of eleven books, including Gay, Straight, and the Reason Why: The Science of Sexual Orientation (Oxford University Press, 2011), and a historical novel, The Donation of Constantine (Lambourn Books, 2013). Janice Baldwin, Ph.D. and John Baldwin, Ph.D. are sociologists at the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. They have been collaborators in numerous studies and coauthored many articles in the area of sexuality and sex education, as well as the textbook Behavior Principles in Everyday Life (Prentice Hall), now in its fourth edition. The Baldwins co-teach an undergraduate Human Sexuality course that is regularly voted Best Course at UCSB. They also teach two advanced seminar courses on the same topic, one of which has created a sex information website, SexInfoOnline (SexInfoOnline.com). The Baldwins have been named Best Professors on several occasions.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the book when I opened it. It didn't seem new to me because there is a crease on the upper right corner of the book's cover. I guess it is because the protection was pretty poor so it got damaged on the way.
